SSRS Project Manager Mel TonkinDr Mel Tonkin, Project Manager:  “I have been involved with red squirrel conservation for 30 years and have witnessed their disappearance from many of their northern England woodland haunts over that time and their virtual extinction from the Central Belt of Scotland. It is still possible to stop their continued demise in Scotland by acting now on a strategic national scale. Conservationists have a duty to take action to protect precious wildlife.”

SSRS Tayside Project Officer Ken NeilKen Neil, Project Officer Tayside:  “Once you have seen a red squirrel your enthusiasm for conserving them will never fade. The pleasure in doing my job comes from sharing this with other people and working together to play our part in making sure that we don’t let this woodland treasure disappear.”

SSRS North East Project Officer Hollie WalkerHollie Walker, Project Officer North East:  “I have always been passionate about wildlife conservation and had a great interest in the threat of invasive non-native species to native species. The red squirrel is an endearing creature and one of such character. The thought of this animal disappearing from Scotland is very sad.
