FAQ: Who works for the project?
Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT), the leading partner of Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels (SSRS), currently employs a project team consisting of Project Manager Dr Mel Tonkin, North East Scotland Project Officer Hollie Walker, and Tayside and the East Project Officer Ken Neil. Grey squirrel control officers will also be appointed by SWT, whose work will be focussed and strategic in line with SSRS aims.
SSRS also plans to work in west Scotland, covering Argyll, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Once funding has been raised, we will appoint a full-time Project Officer for the area.
SWT, acting as part of SSRS, also employs Red Squirrels in South Scotland Project Officer, Richard Wales, as well as three grey squirrel control officers for the region. This provides support for RSSS, the sister project of SSRS, to continue their work to contain the squirrelpox virus in south Scotland.
