Funding

The Scottish Government has made provision through the Scottish Rural Development Programme to finance work which assists in the achievement of biodiversity objectives.  By working to protect red squirrels, either through grey squirrel control or habitat improvements, you could be eligible to access this funding to help with your work.

The Scottish Rural Development Programme offers support to landowners who wish to carry out grey squirrel control for red squirrel conservation. Eligible applicants can claim £185 per trap per annum for carrying out 5 trapping sessions of 10 days throughout the year. This trapping programme must be supported with full and comprehensive records. More information

SSRS project officers can provide advice on red squirrel friendly forest management techniques which are eligible for grant funding.  Project officers are experienced in drawing up successful applications for funding for this purpose and are on hand to help landowners with the application process.  Contact us today.
